A guide to sending flowers to someone in Hospital

Do you want to know how to send flowers to a hospital?

There are a few things to consider when sending flowers to a patient in hospital. Hospitals are very busy and covid rules have changed a few things for flower deliveries.  To ensure your loved on receives the flowers in good condition and in a timely manner please read the tips below.

1 Ensure all the recipient’s details are correct

Please ensure the recipient's full name, contact phone number, correct hospital, the hospital's address, and phone number for recipient if possible.  Large hospitals may have trouble locating the patient, please include the ward number if possible.   If your delivery contains incorrect details we may have to charge a redelivery fee.

2 Please call the hospital before placing your order

Please call the hospital staff to ensure the hospital and your loved one is eligible to receive deliveries. If the patient is in ICU, most hospitals will not allow flower deliveries. Similarly, if your loved one is in a respiratory ward the type of flowers allowed to be delivered is generally restricted to low scent.

3 Covid Rules

Due to hospitals policy around covid rules, our delivery driver is required to leave the flowers at reception. When admin staff are busy there may be a delay in the delivery to the patient’s room. Please call the hospital if you become aware the patient will be discharged and they have yet to receive the flowers.  Large hospitals may have trouble locating the patient, please include the ward number if possible.

4 Box or vase arrangements are best for Hospitals

To ensure your flowers are long lasting and for ease of display in your loved one’s room, Vase or Box arrangements are best. A vase can be used many times over and will always look attractive in your loved one’s room. Boxes are also a popular choice for hospitals because a vessel is not required which eases the pressure on hospital staff to find one.

5 Consider the reason your recipient is a patient

While it is a lovely idea to send flowers to a hospital, new parents can sometimes be overwhelmed with floral deliveries and struggle to take all their gifts home, consider delaying your order for when your loved ones have returned home and can appreciate them for longer.

If you have any questions or concerns, we are always happy to take your call and make sure your delivery of flowers to the hospital is easy and straight forward.
